My work is concerned with the conservation of the land, with a particular focus on the soil and water. In 2007 my work focused on the ecological concepts of river flow and how we humans interfere with this flow. I have just completed my Honours year in which I looked at the ground (soil and terrain) as a social and ecological entity. In my recent body of work I have created a series of abstract, organic, cast glass forms which embody ideas of natural soil fertility and ecological fragility. The pieces are stacked to refer to the role of mulch in retaining moisture and fertilising the ground and to accentuate the sense of fragile balance.
