Shane Fero
Shane Fero has been a flameworker for 39 years and maintains a studio next to Penland School in North Carolina. He participates in international symposia and demonstrations and has exhibited worldwide. Shane is also an educator and has taught at institutions such at Penland School, Urban Glass, the Pratt Fine Arts Center, the Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass, the University of Michigan, Pilchuck Glass School, Bild-Werk, Frauenau, Germany, the International Glass Festival in Stourbridge, UK, and in Seto, Osaka, and the Niijima Glass Art Center in Japan. His work can be found in collections in both private and public institutions worldwide. He is currently President of the Board of Directors of the Glass Art Society (GAS).

Flameworking glasses and any tools that you may be used to, solid footwear.
Where and When
The workshop will be held from 09:00 on Sunday 11 January to 17:00 (5pm) on Wednesday 14 January, o9:00 - 17:00 each day. This allows attendees a day to sightsee or relax, before the Conference starts on Friday 16 January.
The workshop will be held at Richard Clements' studio at Chameleon Glass, 13 Kay Street, Franklin 7113; Google Maps reference. Richard's studio is just past the town of Franklin, turn right into Kay Street. This small town is about an hour's drive south of Hobart, in the picturesque Huon Valley. Attendees might consider car-pooling and we can put you in touch with each other. Accommodation can be found in the nearby towns of Franklin, Huonville and Geeveston to save commuting from Hobart.
Your host and 'technical assistant' is Richard Clements, internationally known himself for his flameworking pieces. Light lunches and morning and afternoon teas will be provided. Phone Richard 0409 906 126 for accommodation advice.
