Accommodation

Delegates must organise their own accommodation for their stay in Hobart. Apart from the Grand Chancellor and Wrest Point, Hobart is characterized by many small to medium providers (estmated at 180 in Greater Hobart but only 2700 room). You'll have to do a bit of work to find the one you like! The following list is not comprehensive but includes most places close to the Conference venue, and a range of accommodation. We give the approximate distances to the School of Art. Please book early! As the conference is being held at peak school holiday time and peak Tasmanian tourism time, we strongly recommend that delegates book their accommodation as early as possible so as not to be disappointed. August is not too early and October is getting late to get cheap accommodation.

High-range Hotels

The Henry Jones Art Hotel, http://www.thehenryjones.com. 03 6210 7700. Very tastefully restored sandstone Jam Factory. Restaurant and bar. Has an emphasis on art. Couldn't be closer to the School of Art, a stone's throw.

Hotel Grand Chancellor, http://www.hgchobart.com.au. 1800 753 379. Just across Davey Street from the block ocontaining the venue. Large hotel with multiple restaurants, art gallery, bar, coffee lounge, etc. 150m.

Mid-range Hotels

Fountainside Hotel http://www.fountainside.com.au/. 03 6234 2911. About three blocks from the venue. 0.8km.

Grand Mercure Hadley's Hotel http://www.accorhotels.com.au. 03 6223 4355. Actually in the CBD, a short walk to the venue. Historic building with ambience. 1km.

Hobart Macquarie Hotel (Leisure Inns) http://www.leisureinnhotels.com.au. 1800 060 954. One block walk down Macquarie Street to CBD and then on to the venue. 1.2km.

Budget Accommodation (usually have hotel-type rooms too)

Bed & Breakfasts
There are too many to list, but see the Tasmanian Travel & Accommodation Centre. Try a delightful Tasmanian experience at a 4-star B&B such as Colville Cottage, Barton Cottage or Cromwell Cottage in Battery Point, about 1.2km walk from the venue.

Other considerations
There are 73 restaurants, coffee shops, etc in the areas of Sullivan's Cove, Salamanca Place and Battery Point.

All the street parking around the Conference venue and in the immediate surroundings is short term (up to 3 hours). The nearest all-day carpark is MarketPlace Car Park http://sultanholdings.com.au/index.php/carparking. Accommodation outside the CBD is cheaper, but then you've got parking costs.
